Affirmations are positive statements that assist in replacing self-sabotaging and negative thoughts with self-accepting and motivating beliefs. Daily repetition said from the heart can bring about not only changes in how you see yourself, but also how you see the world and your success in it.
Our mental foundation, created in childhood, is the belief about who we are and what we are capable of accomplishing. What we were repeatedly told as children from parents, teachers, siblings and peers, has become an unconscious mantra that shapes our lives today.
By deconstructing that old foundation and rebuilding a new, more beneficial belief about ourselves, we can start to have the daily life we want, not only in terms of external success, but also internal peace and joy.
Affirmations are a fundamental part of the Sound Healing Therapies I do with clients. The coherent sound amplifies the effectiveness of the affirmations and allows for a quicker reconstruction of our daily self-talk. Clients are also asked to continue the positive statements between our sessions for maximum benefit.
Here are a few affirmations that I find helpful for clients and for myself:
- "I am calm and relaxed"
- "I and I alone determine my self-worth"
- "I feel free to express myself"
- "I am strong and open"
- "I am safe and secure"
- "I am capable"
- "Life is easy and joyful"
- "I love and accept myself for who I am"
- "I freely and easily release the old and joyously welcome the new"
- "I release what should be and am open to what could be"
- "I forgive others. I forgive myself. I am free to love and enjoy life"
Create your own personalized affirmations to help change the way you see yourself and the world around you.
In the coming months, I will be offering recordings on the website that combine sound and affirmations. So check back soon and start building the internal beliefs you want and deserve.
For more information about creating your own affirmations and their impact, take a look at this interesting article in Psychology Today. Here is an excerpt:
"According to Walter E. Jacobson, M.D., there is value in affirmations of this nature, because our subconscious mind plays a major role in the actualization of our lives and the manifestation of our desires. What we believe about ourselves at a subconscious level, he says, can have a significant impact on the outcome of events."
